A STORY TO TELL
OWNERS
Troy & Kori Cripe
Even though Troy and Kori were from different ends of Elkhart County, Indiana, they both were involved in their local, well-known fair. Troy’s love of farming led him to involvement in tractor driving contests and showing swine, while Kori’s passion was horses. Their paths crossed as they both were chosen to represent their clubs at Purdue University Activities. After dating for four years, Troy proposed at one of Kori’s favorite locations, Oakwood Inn in Syracuse, Indiana, a place of many family vacations. He actually dropped the ring while proposing on the pier but it didn’t hit the water! They were married in August of 1997. The couple has a passion for helping other people. They both work in occupations of trying to make things life better for others, Troy working in agriculture and Kori in mental health counseling.
Kori comes from a long line of women who love to host and entertain and so after years of opening up their home to tour buses and those wanting to learn about the history of their Indiana Historical Home, Troy and Kori decided it was time to try to keep the history “alive” by renovating the original 1860 barn to use for gatherings. It took two years to gather all the permits and loading tests and finally in 2017, Meadow Brook Barn opened its doors for the first wedding! Troy and Kori’s mission is to provide a place for one of the most meaningful days of a couple’s marriage to occur. From the first visit to decor planning, and final walk-throughs, Kori and Troy are there every step of the way. Their hope is that each guest feels blessed by what they experienced and can share these memories for years to come.
THE BARN
The beautifully restored barn is rustic yet elegant with its hand-hewn timbers and vaulted gambrel roof. The eighteen chandeliers provide romantic lighting for the ceremony or reception. Antique tables and hand-built barrel tables can be used for gifts, cake, pictures, and a guest book, while white tables and chairs are provided for guests.
THE STABLE
What once served as a home to horses and is now a place for a one-of-a-kind backdrop for weddings. The Stable is an event venue ready for the next wedding or corporate retreat. It’s location is less than 1 mile from The Barn at Meadow Brook. Half of the acreage the stable sits on is a nice wooded area. This makes a great location for wedding photography.
THE MANOR
This 4000 sqft home is fully furnished with all amenities of a home with picturesque views of the farm and horse pastures. Sleeps 18 guests comfortably. Enjoy the open spaces indoors and outdoors. The house has a fire pit ,outdoor pool and hot tub. The Manor is a perfect setting for wedding party/guests, corporate retreats, small family gatherings or weekend getaway.
THE GAZEBO
Our rectangular chapel gazebo is located north of the large original barn doors to provide a grand entrance for the wedding party as they promenade to the service. The lovely setting is surrounded by farm fields and a rustic granary. Archways, flowers and antique farm equipment invite photo opportunities.
THE ARCH
Add a touch of elegance to your wedding ceremony with the picturesque wedding arch at Meadow Brook Barn. This beautiful and rustic structure creates the perfect backdrop for your special day and provides a beautiful setting for exchanging vows.
GROOM'S CABIN
Located near the outdoor firepit is the unique groom’s cabin. The cabin is suited for an area where the groomsmen can get dressed or can be used as a hang-out spot. Included with the rental of The Barn at Meadow Brook. Groom’s cabin is equipped with a mini fridge for drinks and snacks. Also, for those cooler fall mornings, groomsmen can warm up near the fireplace.
